SC 61

   SC 61

BGEC was granted two petroleum service contracts under the Philippine Energy Contracting Round 2005 (PECR 2005) by the Department of Energy after an evaluation of its technical and financial capability. These are Service Contracts 61 and 62.

The SC 61 Block covers PECR 2005 Area 2 which located in Offshore East Palawan in the northern Sulu Sea. Though the area is deep-water and considered as frontier due to very sparse data available, it has the potential for big discoveries. The most attractive targets are relatively big buried carbonate buildups that can be interpreted from the few seismic data available over the area and demonstrated in the seismic profiles with the adjacent acreage of Shell under SC 60. Buried carbonate buildups are proven commercial petroleum reservoirs in the Philippines, like the Camago-Malampaya oil and gas field. BGEC is planning to conduct a seismic survey over the area to determine the most attractive prospect for well drilling.
